Description
This painting was painted only three days after Hurricane Helene hit my town. The devastation was enormous. We were without power, water, internet or cell service. My neighbors and I had to cut our way through ten large trees to get out of our cove. There were continuous helicopters flying overhead and the sound of sirens from the highway as I painted on my porch. Thankfully, my house is on high ground and the trees that fell on my property all missed my house.
A few weeks before, this cloud formation appeared over my home. I photographed it, saving it for when I was ready to paint it. Now was the moment! I leaned into painting to find hope amidst the chaos. Time slowed and I found myself concentrating on the brushstrokes and colors. Gradually I started to feel like myself again and I felt hope flooding through me. It was beautiful.
Hope is always there, ready to be found.
This acrylic painting is 12″x16″.
