Description
This painting was originally painted with a black and white underpainting, then the color was put on with thin glazes. Â This is the technique the old Masters used. Â Many, many glazes and layers were added to create the final effect.
Making this painting was a leap of faith for me. Â I had made two smaller glazed paintings really successfully and I wanted to take on a challenge. Â This painting was literally four times the size of my previous glazed paintings! Â It was intimidating at first, but I learned so much through the process. Â There was a long stretch in the middle when I had no idea whether I could pull it off, but I just kept going. Â Near the end, I could start to see it coming together, but there was still a long way to go. Â Eventually it came together beautifully. Â Just like love breaking through conflict, it all turned out well in the end.
