Description

This painting was early on in my sky series, when I was still getting to grips with my techniques.  Every step was a new discovery – new ways of turning the brush to create marks, new ways of layering, new exploration into detail versus abstraction.  This process never stops, but early in a series it feels particularly new.  This thundercloud had so much raw power in it.  It was a delight to paint.  Many Thanks to Mike Stimpson for giving me permission to paint his photograph.
