Commission Process
Inquiry
Begin by completing the commission inquiry form, sharing your inspiration, preferred size range, and timing. This helps determine availability and fit.
Sizing, Deposit, and Scheduling
Once the size of your painting is confirmed, a 30% non refundable deposit is required. Pricing is determined by size. This deposit secures you place on my commission schedule for the year.
Commissions are usually scheduled 4 to 8 months in advance.
We will also sign a commission agreement which will lay out all the details so you know what to expect.
Reference Photo
In order to begin painting, we must agree on a reference photo. This can be one that you have taken or one that I find based on your description.
Since I have a background in photography, I can work with you to crop and retouch the photo until we are both satisfied.
I only work from photographs taken directly from nature because that is where my true inspiration comes from. I do not work from AI generated photos.
Beginning Painting
When I am ready to begin your painting a second non-refundable deposit of 20% is due.
When the deposit is paid and the photo is agreed upon, I will take it into my studio and work my magic!
You can watch it come to life with the satisfaction of knowing I am painting YOUR painting! My collectors tell me this is incredibly exciting.
Completion
When the painting is complete, the remaining 50% payment is due.
The painting will be photographed professionally. If it is small enough to be shipped ready to hang, I can also frame it for you.
Delivery
Your painting will be packaged carefully and be shipped by courier or delivered depending on location.
If the painting must be shipped and is very large, it may be taken off of the stretcher bars, rolled, and shipped in a tube. This is much more secure for the painting and saves thousands of dollars in shipping.
A framer in your local area can easily reassemble the painting for you. I do this regularly and it works very well.
Sizes, Investment, and Timing
Sizing
Commissions are available in custom sizes, beginning with 24"x24" and scaled to suit the space they are created for.
Investment
Pricing begins at $3,000 USD for the smallest size and increases with scale, with the most common commissions ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 USD. Really large commissions can be as much as $20,000 USD.
Timing
The typical timeline is 4 to 6 months from the time your deposit is placed to completion of the project. Very large commissions may take longer.
