Description
This painting is about feeling immersed in an atmosphere of peace, but also standing on sure footing. It is a view I saw from the old city of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Â I looked out at the clouds and was struck by how they looked with the endless horizon. Â The clouds and water were so amorphous and beautiful, yet I was standing on solid ground looking out at them. Â I felt anchored and grounded, but felt an infinite sense of peace flowing into me.
I painted it in this photorealistic style so you could feel a sense of what I felt when I was standing there. Â I loved painting the water as it gently lapped toward the shore. Â The variety of textures I had to capture was really fun. Â In the very bottom right corner you can see a tiny bit of the old city wall that borders the oldest section of San Juan. Â To me this grounded the image even more, even if the context was only known to me.
