Description
This painting is about the feeling in your heart just before you burst into song. It’s the same feeling you have right before taking any kind of inspired action – hugging someone, beginning a new project, contacting an old friend. The love wells up and suddenly you want to act on it.
This was also a new step for me in technique. This is my second painting where the color was fully added on with glazes. The colors were so complex and subtle that I knew I needed to glaze the entire thing. It started with a black and white underpainting and then slowly lots and lots of different glazes were added. Then afterwards, the detail gets added. It’s a long but very rewarding process.
Many thanks to Edward Row for letting me interpret his photograph. He climbed on top of a bus shelter to photograph this sky right after a storm. Isn’t that wonderful?
